Local power cleans

Have you thought about starting a Power Clean group in your area? We all benefit from our pristine beaches. They are a huge natural capital asset that provides a lifestyle and also attracts tourism many others to coastal areas.
At the Power Clean volunteers (anyone is welcome!) collect rubbish from along the coastline - as much as they can in one hour, or they drop off what they have collected over the month. The rubbish is then quickly sorted and then counted. This data is then forwarded to the Australian National Marine Debris database.

Having the stall and the rubbish on display effectively communicates to the general public that beach litter remains a problem, and that it is not only unsightly but a danger to marine life.

We are always looking for other clubs/societies to run (with assistance of Clean Ocean Foundation) just one Power Clean each year. It’s very easy and we help too. It can be an excellent opportunity for other groups to show that they also care for the coast, thereby encouraging everyone to take more responsibility for keeping their communities clean, help the environment, and enjoy a morning at the beach with fellow ocean enthusiasts and responsible community members.
