This collaboration started from two intersecting interests; art and ocean and board as object. The body as form… inserting the negative cast of a woman ’s body straddling the board (the artist ’s body) combined our mutual interest in form and ‘to per-form ’… body as object??…saddled up and ready to ride.’

The specter of Slim Pickins riding the bomb from the movie Dr.Strangelove somehow cropped up… and so we were off and riding.. Veins and flesh and cheeky chick became our hotrod version of artwork/surf board… and so Strange Love was birthed … to ride the high seas ….as phallic rocket – bomb – babe splitting the waves and diving the depths.

Julie Rrap is one of Australia ’s most well known contemporary artists, having shown in leading galleries regularly since 1969. She has held over 60 solo exhibitions and has been included in numerous curated and group shows including the 2004 AGNSW ’s. Photographic Archibald, the 2002 Second Sight Australian Photography at the NGV, the 2001 Lempriere Sculpture Awards. In 2001 she won the Hermanns Art Award and has received several Australia Council grants and overseas residencies. Rep: Most of Australia ’s major public galleries including AGNSW,AGSA,AGWA, NGA,NGV,QAG and many regional galleries and leading private collections.

Ivan Rijavec is one of Australia ’s most highly regarded architects who has received 10 professional awards for outstanding architecture. His Australian works include many inner urban developments in Melbourne which have been featured in leading architectural magazines and books. Rijavec has received numerous international commissions in the UK, Sweden and South - East Asia. A former lecturer at RMIT he continues to guest lecture on design, and participate in industry awards. A book on his work Pure Form was published by Images Publishing Group in 2000.
